Strange Laptop Keyboard Issue...

wqe

Certain keys on my laptop keyboard only work when I hold down other keys. So for instance, pressing the "a" key does nothing, but if I hold down the "h" key, and then press "a", it works. Additionally, this pattern of holding down keys to make other keys functional works even when the key being held down is otherwise broken. So, while tapping the "a" key does nothing, and tapping the "d" key does nothing, if I hold down "d" and tap "a", letters are produced.

I have tried updating keyboard drivers and restarting my laptop in safe mode. External keyboard connected via usb works normally.

Laptop is an ASUS Gl502VS.

Any thoughts?

Could be a drive issue. Have you tried the keyboard in other places like the bios, or a different OS like Linux to see if the issue still persists there? I highly suggest contacting Asus's support, even if it's not under warranty they might still be able to help you out, they usually know best and have helped me with my laptop on multiple occasions.

It could just be a faulty keyboard PCB it might not be related to soft where at all and if AndreiArgeanu's fixes don't work try contacting customer support and get it replaced as it might be a board level issue not soft where.
