sorry to bother you again, do you think the Micca RB42 that you recommended would work well for a future surround set up or would you recommend purpose built speakers for something like that.

The miccas can also do bass really well that you really don't need a sub either especially if your doing nearfields for reference I recorded this a while ago just for shit and giggles

I've never had desktop speakers before but was wanting to get them to wear headphones less.

I don't know a whole lot about speaker brands (which are good which are bad), so any recommendations or information on what to look for would be great.

- I would prefer to stay under 200$  but am a bit flexible if its worth the extra cost.

- I was wanting a surround sound setup for my pc ( I'm not sure if that's a bad idea).

If any more information is needed please ask and I will update the topic.

I have looked at the Logitech Z906, and the Logitech Z606, but read somewhere that other brands where better.

I have passive speakers with a small desktop amp: These Micca RB42 with one of these SMSL SA300 or Fosi Audio TDA7498E

But if you want a bit more convenience of self powered you can get one of these: Monolith MM-3 or Edifier R1700BTs

I doubt you can find surround for under $200, at least not something of any quality.

do you thin I could buy one of these pairs now, then buy a second, a subwoofer, and some controller later on and do surround then?

You could do that, yes.

For sure. They are really good for the price. They make great front channels, but I actually think they are overkill for rear or side channel. You could save a bit by going with something cheaper than those for the back and sides.
