Hello,

About a couple weeks ago Warzone started to freeze and stutter while I was playing the game (I believe it was after they had updated the store to include cold war). I tried the following to fix the issues:

  1. Reduce background processes
  2. Play at lower graphics settings
  3. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game
  4. Uninstalled and reinstalled the display driver

The last step seemed to have work. Shortly after installing the graphics driver I hopped on Warzone and it played flawlessly. I thought I had solved the problem.

A couple days pass and I try to play again, and it starts to stutter and freeze. I had made no changes to my system and only used it for normal day operations. I again resorted to the above list, and again the last step seemed to work. However, this time I wanted to make sure it would stay this way. I played the game quickly after installing the graphics driver and it ran flawlessly. I restarted my computer, hopped immediately back on, and it was stuttering and freezing again. I am unsure of what is causing the problem (Although I do believe it has something to do with the display driver), and am hoping that someone on this forum may be able to help me. If you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Interestingly, I have not had this problem.  I run a 1080Ti though, so not sure if that makes a difference.  Could it be an issue with a graphics setting you have on?  Just out of curiosity... is the DirectX Ray Tracing option enabled?  I'd turn that off if-so.

I had the same problem on the same version of the driver. I removed the driver with DDU and reinstalled 452.06. Problem went away.

I installed the 452.06 driver and the issues seems to persist. It ran fine immediately after installing the driver, but once I restarted my computer the stutter and freezing returned.

My graphics card does not support ray tracing and my graphics settings on warzone are currently at their lowest:

  • Screen refresh rate: 60
  • Render resolution: 1920x1080
    • 100% render
  • Custom framerate limit: Unlimited
  • Texture Res: Very Low
  • Texture Filter Anisotropic: Low
  • Particle Quality: Low
  • Bullet Impacts & Sprays: Disabled
  • Tessellation: Disabled
  • Streaming Quality: Low
  • Shadow Map Resolution: Low
  • Cache Spot Shadows: Enabled
  • Cache Sun Shadows: Enabled
  • Particle Lighting: Low
  • Ambient Occlusion: Disabled
  • Screen Space Reflection: Disabled
  • Anti-Aliasing: Off

I don't believe it could be a setting within warzone because I have tested just about every setting and nothing seems to help. Also, the game runs fine immediately after installing the graphics driver but once I restart the computer it no longer runs well.

I had this issue with MW and traced it to not having enough memory that it was swapping to my HDD - very difficult to find.  I had 8 Gb at the time on my old PC so I am getting a new one.  My PC ran it fine when MW was initially released but they kept adding features to it and it was using more RAM putting it into swapping territory.

So my advice is to get more RAM.

Also, FYI, if you're playing an FPS you want to get at least a 120Hz monitor.  You will be less tired after playing and play better.
