I have an old mac and I wanna edit some vids. I have MacOs High Sierra to keep lag down to a minimum and to keep 32 bit games like tf2. Are there any recommendations for free editing software that I could use?

Specs? Old mac means nothing without specs.

I don't have that kind of money. I got it at a garage sale for $500. Plus, I would not be asking if iMovie was compatible with the Os version.

Just get final cut. Perfectly usable mac. If it still has a hdd then upgrade it to an ssd.

What do you mean? What OS are you on currently? That iMac is compatible with macOS Catalina which is the current version of macOS.
