Hello guys,

I've a 8gb ddr3 1866mhz but my motherboard underclock it to 1600mhz and I'm thinking about buying another 8gb stick but the same frequency module is not available 8gb 1600mhz is available, should I go with it or buy 1866mhz I'm kind of confused.

Reply will be appreciated.

What board is that exactly?

but mix and matching sticks is not guaranteed to work, if it did work, assuming the board supports 1866, if you get a 1600 stick, they'll all run at 1600, if the board does limit the speeds to 1600, then getting an 1866 stick will run at 1600.

though preferably get a stick with the same specs/ an identical stick if possible.

get a same stick

if you cant 1600mhz stick should work. but as TofuHaruto stated it is not quaranteed to work.

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

Gigabyte 78 lmt usb 3 rev 5 I'm still confused should I go for the available 8gb DDR3 1600mhz as my motherboard supports that max only but the ram stick I have already is 1866mhz that is underclocked.

Well preferably get the same stick or a stick with the same specs, but if you couldn't, a 1600mhz kit should do the job since they'll both clock at 1600.

though do note that mix and matching sticks may and may not work.

preferably same sticks, like same frequencies and timings.

If that was not possible a 1600 stick should do the job. but either way, mix and matching sticks may may  may not work.
