Does changing Windows Power Plan do anything?

Go to solution Solved by Mark Kaine,

Yep.

Tested them all.(including several"Ryzen power plans")

Windows balanced gives best performance.

By far.

(we're talking like + 4 to 5 fps lol)

YMMV

As title says, Does changing Windows Power Plan do anything?

-I know that it's a big one for laptop users, changing windows Power Plan to High Performance or to Power Saver makes a huge difference.

But for people with custom stationary PCs , like GTX/RTX XX60/70/80 paired with some Ryzen or Intel desktops , does changing this Power Plan really do anything ?

And if it does, should we stay on Balanced or should we switch things up to High Performance ?

Thanks in advance for your time and answer ! :3

Yes, they affect desktops too.

Most user-facing are things like how quickly the computer shuts off the monitor or how quickly it goes to sleep. Less obvious are things like min/max processor state allowed, HDD power-down when not in use (mechanical drives, not SSD), and other power management for network cards/multimedia playback.
