why exactly? if you're going to upgrade to ampere then check the power consumption for these cards first and check if you need an upgrade first or not, and i doubt you'll need one.

going to buy rtx 3080.

wait for ampere to actually launch and check power consumption first before upgrading the psu, what other parts are you pairing it with? a 650w unit should be enough for a 3080.

going to buy rtx 3080. nvidia recommended 750 but 750 and 850w psu are around the same price

Unless you're running an HEDT CPU or a 10900K clocked at 5.2GHz+ on all cores, 660W should be plenty.

what does that have to do with the 3080's power consumption? lol.

getting a higher wattage psu change anything lol. for the most part a 650w should be enough for a build with a 3080, unless you're pairing it with super power hungry cpu's like hammered HEDT's or a hammered 10900k.

I currently have a 7700k to pair with the 3080. Ill upgrade it soon down the line. Im just gonna buy the 3080 coz i have no gpu right now. Will the 660w be enough?
