When I go to the Windows update tab nothing happens. The loading dots on the top of the window just endlessly load. Does anyone know how to fix that?

There was a post some time ago with a member who had the same problem. There were several suggestions, one of which was run the built-in System File Checker to check for corrupted files, the other was to update windows to the latest using MS's media creation tool

Thanks for the quick answer!

Updating windows using MS's media creation tool is like a normal update so that no files get deleted right?

That's the theory....

For the record, at my work, I've updated several dozen systems using that and not had any issues with missing data.

All the same, it's wise to have a backup of your data.
