Hello, people.

I'm building a workstation PC to allow me to use it for college work. I've got a budget of £600 and I study advanced engineering. This means I'll be using the PC for a lot of CAD work.

I also wish to use it for the occasional bit of gaming and I will also use it for Blender too.

I have the following in mind:

-Ryzen 5 2600X
-AMD RX580
-Corsair CX650
-16GB DDR4 3200mhz Corsair Vengeance
-Crucial MX500 500GB SSD
-ASUS Prime B450MA Motherboard

Workstation builds certainly aren't my strong point so if anyone has any better suggestions then that would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks ;)

you sure you want it to be a desktop? a laptop might suit college life better.

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Laptops are a bit too expensive for me. I need a decent PC because the software used is quite intensive. And I can't afford a laptop of a similar spec sadly.

Considering the circumstances, I'd presume you're not keen on deal hunting. If you do, it could be a good way to get more performance.

I just need a machine that's decent enough to cope with the software. And a bit of occasional gaming on the side

I'd say your build is solid. For the case, I'll suggest the Thermaltake Versa H18. It's a great budget case with front mesh, good airflow. Alternatively, if your budget allows it, there's also the CoolerMaster NR 400. IT's a newer case and it also has solid thermal performance.
