Trouble with AMD drivers?

A few months ago I updated my radeon drivers from 20.2.1 to 20.4.2, to find that nearly every game I tried to launch would crash. I quickly reverted back to 20.2.1, and didn't think much of it.

 

After a few more weeks, I started to get short black screens every now and again when gaming. They were rare enough though that I didn't do anything about it. Today, I was playing red dead redemption 2, and started getting the black screens much more frequently to the point that it was hindering my gameplay. I decided to try and update my drivers again, and it lead to the same problem as before.

 

After  again reverting back to 20.2.1, I tried to boot up RDR2 and got an error saying my drivers were out of date. I launched the game anyway, and got 2 black screens in the first 10 minutes, but haven't had any other problems since.

 

I'm really confused about what could be causing these issues.

Thoughts?
