Need help choosing a PSU

Hi,

 

I'm not quite good with wattage. But because my PSU passed its warranty by almost a year and I'm about to upgrade to the RTX 3080 I'm looking for a new PSU.

 

Future specs:

Ryzen 9 3900X

RTX 3080

32GB RAM (4x 8GB 3200MHZ)

2x Sata SSD

1x NVMe SSD

2x 7.2K HDD

A few RGB Fans

 

I'm currently looking at the Corsair RM850x, is this a good PSU and sufficient? Or any other suggestions?

an RM650X would do the job and be just as good.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

Obligatory linkage of the forum's PSU tier list. That's a pretty high-end system, so I'd recommend something from Tier A of the list, or something in Tier B that's marked as Gold.

NVIDIA is recommending a 750W PSU for the RTX 3080 so the RMX 850W will work just fine with room for upgrades/

Oh please, the TGP is 320w for the 3080 and a 3900x isn't power hungry like a 10900k, which is what the recommendation is based on. A RMx 650w is more than enough.

And they always pull more than they say they will. ;)

 

I wouldn't be surprised if the high end partner models have 3x 8 pin.... Then there will be the 3080Ti.....
