Help needed with getting a server case.

I have been looking into getting a home NAS but I would rather build one then buy a premade one. I found a few cases on Newegg and Ebay but the options are very limited. Would anyone know where I could find a good selection of cases with lots of drive bays?

What sort of form factor are you after? How many drives are we talking about when you say a "lot" of drive bays?

Theres plenty of threads in here with recommendations for both.

I am looking for a rack mounted case with somewhere around 15 drive bays. I would like the ability to have hot swap in the front of the case, but it is not needed. As for unit size 4U would work fine. 

 

I will look around at some other post to see if anyone else has sources for rack mounted cases. Thank you for the help.

Ah I misunderstood your question thinking you wanted to customise a case. If you're after a 4U 24-bay hotswap, i'd recommend checking out the Innovision S46524. 

They have various backplane options, and are a good replacement to the budget Norco RPC-4024/4224 which I think is no longer being made. 

 

It takes either an ATX or dual 1U PSU's, and even has 2 x 2.5" hotswap slots on the rear for Boot/Cache drives, and is available with either 6Gbps (SFF8087) or 12Gbps (SFF8644) miniSAS backplanes, or you can get one with an expansion backplane (can run the whole thing off a single controller card). 

 

Keep in mind the rails are sold separately
