I dont know if thats it because it literally returned to the old non genuine windows 7 even though i bought a genuine one 2 months ago. Also everything changed back to before i bought the new genuine windows 7. I also checked system restore points and i know i had restore points but now all of the are gone.

Maybe it booted to a different drive with the old os because that is the default.

Hello, I need some help since I clicked optimized default in BIOS. I installed a genuine windows 7 2 months ago since i have been using non-genuine one until then. After that ive been using the genuine one and while troubleshooting with my settings I thought maybe the optimized defaults would help. After doing the default settings my pc suddenly went back to the non genuine windows 7 but all the files i downloaded when i was using with genuine one are still there. How can i go back to the genuine windows 7.

Sound like you just lost activation. That's weird to happen from just changing BIOS settings, but all you have to do is go back through the activation process. It may or may not make you call Microsoft support, but as long as you've obtained it legally, you'll have no issues getting reactivated.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

oooh yea i think so. How do i boot to the one with the genuine os?

In the bios, there should be something called boot order or boot priority, change the first priority to the drive with your new OS.

Yeah, you likely didn't wipe your other boot drive, and the boot order got switched when you reset the BIOS. Just go back into the BIOS and change the boot order so that the drive with your genuine copy is first.

Thank you all. Problem is fixed :)).

np, also wipe the other drive if you don't need the other OS anymore.
