Can Someone Help me Decrease my Shared System Memory on my Discrete Graphics Card?

I am new to this forum and have made this account to get help for my question.

My PC is a Lenovo OEM Computer, I think it is a ThinkCentre Edge m92 and here are the specs:

OEM Lenovo Motherboard

Intel Core i3 3220 2-core CPU

8gb of DDR3 RAM

AMD Radeon HD 6570

 A 500gb HDD

My problem is that even though I use a discrete graphics card, it still uses shared memory, and a lot of it.

It has shared system memory of 3840mb and it is hogging my RAM especially when I play games and

doing intensive video editing. This came like that when I first bought it second-hand

Can someone help me please, thanks in advanced

it's shared meaning you would need to be using all of the dedicated vram before the gpu started using system ram.

Whatever games are able to run on a 6570 sure as heck aren;t going to be making much use of 1gb of dedicated vram anyway so this really isnt an issue

But this is an issue, when I play GTA V at the lowest settings like 970mb used in graphics, it is still hogging my RAM it is showing 3gb used, and also in the settings I see that GTA V is showing 3840mb instead of 1024 mb, I think my problem here is that GTA or any graphics application is using my shared memory that is why I am lagging

......its using it because it need some sort of memory from somewhere.....

Your overall machine is VERY low end spec wise. With hardly any system ram , or vram , or gpu power..... what is gta supposed to do? It's need to use SOME memory it doesn't just run on hopes and dreams.

You could very much benefit from Lowspecgamer on youtube.

But other than that your gpu shares the system memory , thats just what it does. Buy a dedicated gpu if you don't want the integrated gpu to be in use anymore.

I also just checked and the i3 you're using is quite slow as well , have you checked the cpu usage while in gta 5 because that cpu isn't going to do very well either.

And also this just happened recently, I have runned GTA V before in the same machine with no problems, this problem just happened when I saw that GTA V is using the shared system memory. In fact before, my GTA V only shows 1028mb of VRAM, but when I reinstalled GTA V it now shows 3840mb

Also in GTA V at the first few minutes it runs fine like it does before, but after some time lag spikes and stuttering occurs

Also thank you for recommending LowSpecGamer, I will now try his method to increase performance
