Moto G or Galaxy S3?

Hey guys!

I am planning to get a new phone in a few weeks and I am stuck between the Moto G and the Galaxy S3.

The specs are very similar of these both with the exception of camera and memory. Since, both are getting 4.4 update, I want someone who has used both of them to tell me which one is better.

I currently own a Lumia 610, but I am familiar with using android as I have a Nexus 7 2012.

Also, which phone can play graphic-intensive games better? I usually play a few games like Real Racing 3 etc. build quality also matters.

Storage also might not be a problem for me as I store most of my music on my iPod and I plan to stream videos from my network connected drive.

Any help would be appreciated.

The Moto G will probably have a better time of the games.

S3 has a better camera.

Other than that they're virtually identical.

Definitely the S3.

The MotoG is a budget device while the S3 is a high end device from a slightly past gen.

Kind of freaky how quickly time passes eh?

Just think. Sony's going to put out 2 flagships a year. The phones will be 4 generations old in 2 years!

Honestly both of the phones are so close, I doubt you'd notice a difference between them.

2 a year?! Damn, you got to wonder what the hardware updates in a phone are in 6 months. They aren't that worth while on a yearly release schedule...

I would say that at this point it comes down to stock android or touch wiz. I take back my S3 recommendation actually...

That's why I was leaning towards the Moto G...I mean, yes, the S3 is a little faster on paper but...I bet that's taken away with the bloat.

Moto G, newer architecture, higher pixel density, newer Android, faster updates..

 

I think it's crazy. Though, look at what Samsung does with the Note and S series. If those were both the same form factor, it's basically the same thing.

The prices here in India are really similar between the two devices. Also here s3 is available only in 1gb varient and I read somewhere its highly unlikely to upgrade to 4.4.

Also camera is not a concern as I don't plan to use it much. I am much more concerned about the overall smoothness and I happen to like the feel of stock android.

Also, what about the comparison between Mali 400 and adreno 305? Can anybody tell me which one is better?

In that case, your clear and mile ahead winner is the Moto G, for sure.

They're pretty similar. Adreno 305 I think is newer, but has a slower clock to it.

The Android version on the Moto G is much lighter and requires less system resources than that on the Samsung S3, so, I'm pretty sure the performance will be better as there's less bloatware.

Comeing from personal experience the moto g is way better mostly because the North American S3 only comes with a dual core and Samsung bloatware making the overall experience worse.

The moto g has nearly the same specs as a Nexus 7 2012 (again also own this device) as the moto g has the lower power draw version of a Cortex A9, a Cortex A7.

You can also buy the moto G outright for $150-$180 and it also comes with Kitkat (4.4) whereas a Samsung S3 off contract is $600 (from bell) and only comes with Jelly Bean (4.3).

Overall the Moto G is a better experience and value IMO.

P.S. I would look into if you could get nexus 4 if your going on a contract :-D
