Hey there guys. Recently my computer has been restarting on its own at random. Just a black screen and back to windows. Sometimes it doesn't even make it into the windows logo.

My PC specs are

CPU : i7 2600 (non K)

Motherboard:Asus p8z77 v-pro

Psu : corsair tx 750m

Ram : 16gb Kingston

Gpu : gtx 770

I RMA the board as I thought that it could have been the problem. Installed everything again (Reformat my SSD) and it works for around 6 hours. Thought everything was ok till it started rebooting on its own again.

Then the LEDS on my motherboard started going red. Solid red CPU led. Turned the whole system off and waited around 15 mins and it went back into windows fine. For about an hour that is. (The lights no longer light up red. Only once in awhile.) Could it be my CPU?

I'm suspecting that my PSU is the culprit as sometimes when i turn my system on, not all fans start to spin. Sometimes some of my led fans don't work. Sometimes when the computer shuts down, the lights on my keyboard and mouse are still on, indicating that it's powered on. I don't have the luxury of testing components as I don't have an extra CPU or PSU. I'm thinking of forking out some money but I don't want to buy the wrong thing.

I checked windows event viewer and the error is kernel power 43

Any thoughts guys?

The whole system is about 2 years old. Except my CPU which is 3 years old. GPU is about 7 months.

I've heard from other to check your audio drivers. If you have multiple try disabling one and restarting. If the restart works fine then thats the driver you are having problems with. I don't know if this will solve it, but it did for other people I know.

Boot into safe mode and see if it happens. If it doesn't happen its a driver problem.  There are also different things you can do to diagnose the problem:

Check for bad Windows Files:  Run sfc /scannow in command prompt as administrator

Run a memory test: Go to windows memory diagnostic tool in admistrative tools and set the mode to extended for 4-8 passes

Update your drivers: Update your drivers

Check for incorrect drivers:  research your current drivers with your current hardware and see what others say, you may have an incompatible driver

Run a Virus Scan: Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk, burn it to a USB/CD and boot from it.   Update it and scan.

The computer restarts fine. I can even use it for 2-3 hours sometimes 5-10 minutes. But it will just restart on its own. I doubt it's the audio driver as I reformatted windows and it still restarts on its own. It even restarted when I was running windows off the disc to do the format.
