Any Suggestions?

Budget: $1,200

Country: United States of America

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Digital art and slightly above casual gaming.

Other details: I am upgrading from a family iMac we bought years ago. The peripherals I need are a keyboard and a monitor, nothing else. I am pretty new to this and don't know much about specs and how to measure them because I have nothing to base them off of. I would love it if you guys could fill me in on how well this PC will perform and if there are better parts for the price and job. Thank you guys a lot.

Below is my current list of parts I currently have planned out.

    AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard

    G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

PNY CS900 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Asus GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB TUF GAMING OC Video Card

Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case

EVGA BR 450 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

    AOC C24G1 24.0" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor

Razer BlackWidow Elite RGB Wired Gaming Keyboard

At this moment, the price of these parts add up to $1,192.37 including tax.

(BTW colour scheme is black/purple if that matters at all)

Looks like a solid build. Maybe wait for Zen 3 to come out and opt for a higher wattage PSU to future proof (maybe 650 watts) so you don't have to upgrade your PSU in a while.

I would recommend upgrading the power supply to a cooler master mwe gold or corsair txm 650w power supply. 450 is a bit low and the evga br isnt great. You may want a bigger ssd. Also, maybe go for a cheaper case and squeeze in a rx 5600xt or rtx 2060

Unless you can get this for significantly less (sub $100), I would look for a B550 board like the MSI B550 Pro VDH wifi, or the MSI B550 Bazooka. Check out this video for some recommendations

I would also get a better PSU, like a corsair TXM or Coolermaster MWE Gold. Have a look at the PSU tier list in the subforum and pick something from the B tier or up.

Hope this helps :)

these are some changes id make, if you prefer the meshify's looks its fine but the p300a is just as good for cheaper. the k582 is a great kb for the price and a proper ips monitor is much nicer for visuals and color accuracy in your art. there are cheaper monitors than the vg240y but theyre always out of stock, usually around 160-180 bucks if you can snag em. if you can spare a bit for a nicer psu it would be nice for future builds, the affordable bequiet that we usually recommend appears to be OOS as well.
