pc shutting down under specific load

I built my pc about a year ago ever since it has had problems with specific things in games.

it has no problems running most games but some things it just refuses to do.

 

examples:

 

1.while playing boneworks it handled the game fine.

but one level where there was lots of flowing and splashing water it just crashes* 

(and occasionally when there are lots of particles)

 

2. spider man vr just crashes* on launch even thou it isn't a particularly graphically demanding game..

 

3.fortnight runs fine until it freezes in about the middle of the match and closes because of "application hang".

trying to apply automatic graphics settings just causes it to crash*

 

 (*crashes = no video no fans but is still powered on and has to be unplugged for 5 to 10 seconds and then plugged back in to boot)

 

my system:

PSU: 500W
GPU: R9 280x Windforce oc
CPU: ryzen 3 2200g 
RAM: one Stick of DDR4 8gb

PSU isn't good enough to handle the Graphics card.

 

You need to get a better quality PSU, the one you have is VERY BAD quality wise.

 

From the tier list pick something from Tier B or C.

 

Your current PSU is in Tier D, one step above dumpster fire quality.
