now that i know how to quote, what do you mean by just a cover? will it not turn brown and become rust ?

I meant it's just a metal cover with no use, it doesn't matter if it corrodes.

If you're in an environment that causes corrosion then yeah it'll probably accelerate aging but it's not like there's something you can do about it. Live with it.

motherboard rear ports looks dusty and have white stain on it, tried rubbing it off with isopropyl but just after a few seconds the white stuff sets in again. Is this corrosion or just the effect of living at an environment with high humidity? Sorry if this problem is too minor. It irritates me, just want to know what it is and if it'll affect my rear port's functionality and longevity

i have the same ,, problem '' living in a city where you can drive a euro -2 ( european joke here hah lul ). Dust is everywhere, but i kinda got used to it, by not having any light in my personal room. You just have to live with it, and in 1-2 years to kinda clean your fans.

Hm, I first though it was battery acid, because of it's color, but you tried cleaning this off and it came back right?
