Hello guys! so i'hv been hearing some vibration noise on my pc and its coming from the psu area and some guys told me it can be the hdds causing the vibration against the case

it seems like the psu or the case are the problem
I run some tests i entred a game and took off the psu out of the case while its working and the noise stops okey lets not say stop but reduced a lot ( i was holding it on my hand ) and when i put it back to its place on the case the vibration comes again !

and lifting the case like 3mm or less stops the noise !
another thing i tried putting a peace of paper under the case's leg the one under the psu and vibration reduced alot maybe gone !
So i wanna know if its a case problem or a psu itself ? and is  that vibration can harm the psu in the future ? ( not sure its the reason or the case )

The vibration itself won't harm the PSU. The source of the vibration might be a sign of problems though. Most noteably, a bad or unbalanced fan inside your PSU.

Some foam or rubber pads should be pretty cheap

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Considering the paper thing, Maybe your psu is vibrating slightly not making much noise, but moving the case, then when your case is moving that is actually creating the vibrations itself? Can you not leave a piece of paper under the cases leg permanently? Maybe cut it out the exact size, or perhaps even a piece of fabric like felt?

It's also possible that if you have a really cheapy constructed case, those vibrations are amplified by the ill-fitted pannels rattling.

are u sure it's not a case problem ? making it vibrate ? because as i said when I took it off the vibrates stops and I remember using an old psu also the vibration was there

and why touching it or lifting it a bit make it stop ?

I mean, i just tried picking my case up (Corsair 500D SE) and it makes it a lot quieter (so i may also get some sort of pads now), but thats deffinitely not a cheap case, so probably not so much that its cheap, but possibly a design flaw.

Oh I've seen really cheap cases where it's basically made of tin foil. Like cases where the structural integrity comes from mounting the motherboard and drives in it.

Because you are absorbing the vibration with your hands.

Yeah if you buy some cheap furniture pads or something, it should be pretty easy to get rid of the noise. Maybe you need to make them skinny by cutting them in half, but otherwise it sounds like a convenient fix.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B
