So I made a post yesterday asking if I should upgrade to a xeon e3 1231 v3 or a 4670k and I they told me to get the xeon and I kept on researching CPUs

until I found the Xeon E5 1650 and it seems like a really good cpu for the price (80$ + new motherboard) what are your thoughts on it?

Should I upgrade to the e3 1231 v3 alone? (70$ i already have a mobo) or the 1650 I will be mainly gaming on it with a little bit of blender here and there and it's also overclockable so that's a plus?

The cpu's are basically the same, especially when it comes to boost clocks, except one has an extra 2 cores. If you already have the motherboard the 1650 would be the better choice, though. If you don't perhaps stick to the e3 1231 v3, or perhaps consider investing in a b450 motherboard an a ryzen cpu, since the price of the 1650 + a motherboard is enough to cover a decent b450 motherboard and a cpu like the ryzen 5 2600, not to mention the upgrade path.
