So i was thinking of buying a 3 or 4tb 3.5in harddrive and then an external enclosure to store all my games and music and stuff.. what i was wondering is if i connect that drive to my internet so it is an internet drive or whatever.. would steam be able to boot games off of it?  the main reason i want to do this is so i can have multiple gaming rigs throughout my house but not have to download the game 10 times.

You'd probably want to make sure it's USB 3.0 but preferably eSATA or Firewire. I can't see why it wouldn't work provided it didn't leave files on the OS drive.

Steam would be able to load games off it if it's connected to your PC, no worries.

Also, what do you mean 'connect that drive to the internet'?

I know that there are some routers that come with an onboard USB port that allows you to connect an external drive and then share it across the network but I don't know how to achieve the same effect when you are not directly connected to your home network.
