Hi,

I upgraded my PC case today and after moving everything over from one to the other I cannot get my system to post. I have no EZDebug LEDs illuminating except briefly the CPU light and then the Boot and VGA lights together, each come on for a split second and go off again so I assume its normal procedure. All the fans are spinning.

This system was working perfectly before switching cases and I had it running this morning.

What I have tried:

  • Plugging in MB and CPU power correctly. (Its very correctly plugged in)

  • Different GPUs (All known working)

  • Different GPUs in different PCIe slots.

  • Reseating CPU

  • Reseating GPU

  • Reseating RAM

  • Trying single RAM stick in each MB slot

  • Clearing CMOS

  • Removing Button battery and holding power switch.

  • Booting with no RAM, I got the DRAM debug LED.

Currently the system is out of the case with the bear essentials connected. CPU, RAM, GPU and all power. Still nothing.

Any ideas?

Specs:

  • Ryzen 5 2600

  • MSI x570-A Pro

  • Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 3200mhz

  • GTX1660 Super

  • Corsair CX600 PSU

My first thought is to verify your front panel connectors using the manual and not the printed abbreviations on the board. Also verify you put on fresh thermal past. It shouldn't turn off that fast without it but it can shut off for thermals. Do you have another power supply you can test with? It's a good starting point when the system is shutting off unexpectedly. Finally, put up some pics from different angels, another set of eyes never hurt.

I'm not familiar with that particular board but that sounds fairly normal.

Make sure you're plugging the monitor display cable in to the graphics card and not the motherboard - The Ryzen 2600 does not have integrated graphics, you will need to plug in to the graphics card for a display signal.

Was anything else changed when you swapped cases?

So to confirm, HDMI is plugged into GPU. Nothing was really changed I gave it a bit of a clean.

Front panel connectors were correct according to the MB manual but are now disconnected and I am running the system out of the case. Its not shutting down, just no post at the moment.

You've already tried most of the troubleshooting processes I would recommend. Almost sounds like it's just not outputting a display signal. Try a different display. Plug in to a TV via HDMI if you don't have another monitor available.

Sadly, I have tried that too. Different monitor and HDMI cable.

I really am at a loss here to be honest, normally this sort of troubleshooting is pretty simple but nothing has worked.

Alright so I ordered a new motherboard and it works. Looks like the old one is dead somehow. The replacement is the exact same model.

For reference the LED behaviour on the working board is slightly different in that each illuminated for around a second in order before posting.
