Memory slots

I'm pretty new to PC building, (just built my first pc last month lol) and I was wondering if it would make any significant difference if I put my ram in slots 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3 (for reference, my ram is in the black slots). when i built my pc, the bios would not flash and the monitor was just going into power save mode every single time, and I put my ram into the black slots and it worked fine, wondering why that is.

2 and 4 are supposed to overclock better than any other config with 2 sticks involved, also using slot 1 can cause more CPU cooler compatibility issues since some heatsinks limit slot 1 much harder than slot 2-4

depends on the motherboard but generally 2 and 4 are the optimal two-dimm configuration. as long as you put your dimms in the right spots to get dual channel support then it shouldnt matter for most users. reference your motherboard manual to be sure, occasionally they'll mix it up and do weird shit for no reason
