Should I be concerned about this...?

PackYourBaggins

I received a new mouse a couple days ago. The Corsair Dark Core Pro SE. It's a wireless mouse and it's been solid so far, but I had one small concern, and I was wondering if someone might could put my mind at ease. The directions booklet that came with the mouse instructed that I charge the mouse fully before its first use. However, I don't think I fully charged it before using it due to the charging light indicator not working correctly (Which is probably a separate issue entirely).

I checked the mouse settings in iCUE (wish I had done that from the very start when I got it) and it said my battery charge was critically low. It drained faster than I thought it would, which leads me to believe I didn't actually fully charge it like I thought I did. I've been using it for a little over 2 days, and it's currently charging as I type. Should I be concerned about potential damage to the battery by using it without fully charging it first? That's my main concern.

Not sure what fully charging a mouse does.  Does it switch on some super no drain mode?  Does it use some battery different than all the other batteries in the world that don't need to hit 100% to work properly off the bat?

If it's not performing how you want, return it.  The charging light alone suggests there is a defect.

main reason why people say this is they don't know how long it was on the shelf for. wait for it to charge then see how long it lasts, if it doesn't last long then you have an issue. I'm currently on my first charge in my wireless mouse, and its been 7-8 months of heavy use.

There's two reasons for this, both support related. The manufacturer 1) doesn't want you calling because it didn't work right out of the box, simply because the battery is drained and 2) doesn't want you calling because it only lasted 2 days instead of 30, or whatever, because it wasn't fully charged.

The old NiCad batteries uses to "take a charge", where if you didn't fully recharge them, you'd eventually lose the ability to do so. However, Li-ion doesn't have this problem. I mean, it will still wear out over time, like any battery, but you can drain it, charge it halfway, drain it again, and then top if off, etc. without worry.

I asked because anything with rechargeable batteries always tells you to fully charge it before using it. I thought there was a reason for that, and I wasn't entirely sure what that reason was. No need to be condescending.

I'd also like to clarify that the charging indicator does work, but I have to close iCUE completely for it to work. Otherwise, the light just stays off when iCUE is open. So I'm thinking it's possibly an iCUE issue. I left that detail out of the original post cause it didn't seem relevant to what my question/concern was.

I see. I won't sweat it too much then.

You don't really need to fully charge it, but it is recommended that you do it once. From what I know, you needed to do it on older-type batteries, but not anymore.
