Are the M50x super bassy that they cover up the vocals?

WaseemW

Hey, I've looked through my options, in my country DT 770 is only available in 250 Ohm and is like +50$ from the M50x so I'm not interested in buying it +an amp, the K371 is also about 40$ more, and K361 isn't available.

I'm gonna use them for everything basically, gaming, job online meetings/chatting, listening to music, etc.

I know they are bassy, I don't mind them being bassy as long as the vocals are clear, I've tried some bassy headphones (like beats) where the vocals are muddy and undetailed, I could barely hear the words and that's it, does the M50x have this problem?

I'm also gonna buy HM5 angled along with other couple of pads to test them out so I can fix the comfort problem.

With the right pads, are the M50x good for general use? And do they suffer from the vocals sounding muddy and barely hearable like other bassy headphones?

Thanks!

I don't find their sound profile appealing. Treble is harsh, bass and mids fall apart, and they are generally not a good value at their price.

If you are a vocals-focused listener, these are not for you.

What other headphones do you suggest? besides the one I mentioned that aren't available in my country.

And I like a little bit of bass which is why I'm considering these, I like feeling the bass but what i don't like is when there is nothing else because of it

At this price point/wants I would take a look at the Sennheiser HD series. They're all pretty bass focused, but my HD598CS have really good vocals. It's a pretty great overall headphone, you can get closed back + open back models.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Cooler Master 752 (rebranded Takstar Pro 82) are comfort gods, come with a mic that's actually good (for gaming), and actually sound good, ignoring the fact they're advertised for gaming, I recommend these to everybody.

Up the price a little, the M40X are way better then the M50X. The M50X have no sound stage, are treble murder if not paired with the perfect DAC, and the low/mids/bass are just muddy. They have a lot of bass, but you can't tell because it has more treble and the bass isn't detailed. As for the M40X, they're flat and don't have the issues of the M50X, while still being a better "monitoring" headphone as the M50X (neither of them are). Just replace the earpads with comething thicker to increase the soundstage and comfort.
