Hello All,

I hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe.

I am looking for some advice. I had to RMA my Asus X570-E Gaming Motherboard. I received an email from ASUS telling me I have to pay $250.00 for the repair because of Customer Induced Damage (CID). I do not even remember seeing the scratch on the side when I shipped it, but would this damage (see picture circled in red) really cause the board to stop working?

Thank you, All.

so it was damaged during shipping while being returned or you bought it and you saw that it was chipped? not entirely sure what you are asking.

He wants to know, if the damage that he's showing on that picture might prevent the board from working, if I understood him correctly.

it seems like a really tiny chip right at the edge. I doubt there would be any traces that close to the edge but I have no idea. You are probably fine. if that is on the lower left side(when looking from the front), then test the onboard audio to make sure everything sounds ok.

Lower left side is almost always where the audio traces are and top right is usually power and a bunch of misc stuff. bottom right area is usually IO stuff.
