New CPU

i got a new cpu from a friend that had from his old pc, but i dont know if it ACTUALLY WORKS, how do i check?

one other thing, if someone says swap it with the one in your computer, its not that easy. my pc is AM4 and the cpu is lga1150

im looking to use this cpu instead, so im doing a full pc upgrade.

put it in a system (with known working parts preferably) and see if it works

pretty much the only way

why not validate it in your friend's system

 

but if there's any dent or missing pads on the bottom of the cpu PCB, it's probably damaged

Then you need to find a lga1150 mobo that is compatible with that cpu
