Guys, need some expert help here....

18 months ago,  upgraded my system to an i-5 8400 @2.8Ghz on a Prime B360 Plus motherboard with 8Gb (2 x 4) RAM (2666 Hz), with a RX580 graphics card, which was sufficient for my needs at the time.... now getting into gaming (lock down problems right?).

I'm looking at getting back into flight Sims & in particular X-Flight 11 & MS FlightSim 2020....

Want to upgrade the RAM (obviously) to either 16 or 32 Gb.... this is a G.P unit, I use the usual suspects (Office / Project etc) and web surfing, bit as I get back into real time Flying, I am looking at the sim's to get policy/procedures/ planning back up to speed after a 34 yr break (yeah I am officially a member of the Grumpy Old B@^%$# CLUB...)

The options out there are totally confusing, I can get round a computer OK (enough knowledge to be dangerous) however |I want to put my available fun vouchers into actual flying rather than getting a brand new all singing /dancing PC.

What RAM would the forums recommend? I know I am limited to the max freq the M.B supports, I know I need "matched pair" RAM, but what Brand and with the above spec, what RAM would you guys reccomend?

Many thanks in advance

PabloAUS

Most ideal thing would be same frequency and timings.

You're obviously limited to 2666 by the board. As for timings. Different timings can work but all sticks will be set to the worst timings essentially. But having the same ones would be ideal.

Technically it should work, but mix and matching ram may and may not work. It's not guaranteed, but theoretically for the most part it should work.

From what I saw that should support up to 2666, you can get faster rated memory and run at 2666 (pretty sure they have to include a profile for jedec) these are cheap ram sticks I'd consider buying though

16GB:

not familiar with the brand, but specs and price are better

As your Motherboard has 4 RAM slots i'd just get the exact same pair of sticks again for a total of 16GB. Check your RAM sticks for a part number, google that number and buy the same kit again. This will be the cheapest, yet safest option. Alternatively you can buy a used 16GB kit for cheap.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
