So i have an Predator helios 300 G3-572 and i want to upgrade from the hdd to an ssd and thats where it gets tricky for me i thought about buying an nvme m.2 drive with an adapter to sata but iam not sure if it will works

There's no point in running an NVMe drive through a SATA adapter, even if they exist (They really shouldn't). Just buy a decent SATA SSD.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Linux - Fedora

Doesn't the Helios have an M.2 slot already? Placing an M.2 drive into a 2.5 inch adapter should work but would limit that drive to SATA speeds, so no benefit at all and you may loose TRIM support because of whatever controller is on that adapter.

Make sure to check your manual first on whether or not you have an empty M.2 connector as well.

I don't really know if it is an nvme m.2 and I thought it would improve the speed

NVME drives will only be faster in an NVME slot. Thy may not even work with a SATA adapter at all. If you only have a SATA drive to replace, select a standard SSD with high IOPS rating (90k or more) and has DRAM caching as well. San Disk Ultra or now WD Black drives, Crucial MX500, Samsung Pro etc. are good options for best speed.

But again, check your manual to see if you have an extra m.2 connector you can use. If so, you won't need an adapter.

what about the crucial bx is that a good one i could get it for about 40 euros less than the mx 500
