I have a Samsung Galaxy A8 phone, that is two years old now. Since it still functions well, I don't intent to replace it. However, either I'm super unlucky with USB C cables, or the port have failed on me. Or both.

I can only charge my phone is an exact position, even the smallest movement disconnects it, and only in the slowest speed. Also I stuck on the same playlist for a while since I cannot connect my phone to my PC in a way they see each other.

So far I could confirm that my cable is bad (most likely a bad connector) by trying to charge another phone with it, but I don't have access to another USB C cable/charger.

If I have a bad socket, then how much it costs to replace? I might attempt it myself, but my soldering iron is pretty mediocre, and so far the only SMD work I've done is soldering back capacitors and resistors I unintentionally desoldered (since my iron is a POS), and replacing two failing capacitors in my monitor.

Just get another cable. Dont know what charger u have but normally its has an USB A on it. So in that case get an USB A to C cable.

Incase of replacing the USB C on the A8: Its soldered on the MB and isnt something you should do with a bad soldering iron :S

So first replace the cable then contemplate replacing the USB C on the phone.

It seems that did the trick this time.

I shaved down a toothpick as it was suggested on some forums, but a regular one didn't reach deep enough. Then I gave a ton of contact cleaning with the cheapo cleaning spray I've bought a decade ago, and now the fast charging works.

I have the same issue with my phone. I've had to clean it twice already with a needle. The port doesn't even look dirty.
