Hey i want to install Cyanogenmod on my Htc one S, i got zero experience with rooting and custom roms etc so i basically wonder what you have to do before you download and install Cyanogenmod? How do i make a backup of how the phone was before so it's not bricked if something goes wrong? Anything else i have to do before i install Cyanogenmod?

Get the latest version of TWRP recovery, you'll need it to install the ROM anyway, you can do a full backup of the phone from there. If you mess anything up just go back into the recovery and restore.

basically this, and when you go into your new rom, go and get Nandroid manager off the playstore and you can restore nearly all of your data :D

just do it yourself dude

this should be the same with your phone if he is using the HTC Dev method

I trust this guy so this is a good method, I don't trust root-installers because they are automatic and therefore if they fail you don't know what exactly to fix.
