Hey guys my name is Denis and I have  a quick question for you guys.

I have Corsair Vengense LPX DDR4 cloked 2400 C16 2x8GB(but manually  overcloked to 3200MHZ) memory

and I have a question

I'm thinking of buying a new CPU

to switch from Ryzen 7 1700 to Ryzen 5 3600( I heard it's REALLY good for gaming).(from overall AMD memory chips)

My memory is manually overcloked to 3200MHZ(base 2400MHZ) and the MEMORY I want to buy is: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x8GB DDR4 3600MHz CL18 Kit

which meaning I can overclock it to at least 4.0MHZ

my question is.

is it worth the 140USD?

I mean from what I heard AMD CPU'S can really Depend on the RAM speed when it comes to performance..

should I make this purchase or stay with my overcloked STABLE RAM(disclaimer im buying a new CPU)

this question has been already answered by someone but I just need more people to confirm it with me and while you at it explain me how MEMORY helps the performance i guess ;/

Thanks for the help

looking for your reply guys

even if the ram can hit 4000mhz, your cpu's fclk probably wont reach 2000, unless you're very lucky

what CL is your 3200mhz ram running?

if it's about CL16, then the difference between it and 3600 (what most ryzen 3000 cpu can handle while being 1:1) is very minimal

if it's worth it is entirely up to you, some people would pay $1000 for 2 more fps

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

my RAM that is 2400 OC to 3200MHZ is a CL16

when the ram i want to buy 3600 is a CL18

Even if it did. It would introduce some latency penalties.

Well yes ryzen does benifit from faster ram because there's more than one CCD/ccx and there's an Interconnect. So there's some latency. As for is it worth it? I mean no not really. Cl18 3600 basically performs the same as a cl16 3200 kit in terms of latency.

Also if you have a b450 board. Wait for zen 3. As b450 might support it with a beta bios. (though some models will and others won't).

What board do you currently have?

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

^. So imo it's not worth it.

if your current memory ocs to cl16 3200 then it's similar to the cl18 3600 kit

the corsair kit you linked is worth less than 80usd imho, you can buy 2x16 kits that are faster AND cheaper, corsair memory is generally way overpriced

the cpu imc is only guaranteed 3400-3600 on a 3600, it would not hit 4000

my recommendation is to keep ur current ram, the best value right now hands down are these but it is 2x16gb:

for 2x8gb i'd get these but it's only worth it if u really tune them:

You didn't answer my question. From reviews online I know the Ryzen5 3600 is a lot better but I overclocked my Ryzen 7 1700 to 3.9ghz

My question is

Will this purchase make a major improvement in FPS or will it not.
