My buddy is trying to use the USB flashback button, he has no POST and no video signal.

(Motherboard is a z87 Gryphon)

He was going to RMA the board, but the asus customer service guy he was talking to told him to try flashing the bios first via the USB flashback button.

In the guide it says he needs to rename the bios file so that the board will recognize it when he pushes the button, but we're not sure what we're supposed to rename it to.

Going off of this "how to" I think it'd be "GryphonZ87.CAP"

Anyone know what the file needs to be renamed to? I'm thinking "GryphonZ87.CAP"

Edit: that didn't work, he's gonna try taking out the cmos battery and waiting a couple seconds then putting it back in.

Nope, you need to rename the BIOS if it is an older version (ROM) rather than CAP. Just download the latest BIOS from the website, stick it on a USB flash drive and flash it.

Neither worked he said, tigerdirect is sending him a replacement he said.  Hopefully it was the board and not something else.  He doesn't really have many ways of figuring out what the issue is, (no other psus/ motherboards/ cpu's/ gpu)
