I am a novice in overclocking, and I think I pushed my 960 too far. It is reporting an error 43 in device manager, saying Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. I can't cancel the overclock because it does not show up in task manager or msi afterburner, I assume due to it being disabled by windows. I am on the latest version of Windows and have reinstalled the drivers, but still no luck. There was a scary moment where my resolution went to 480p,but the text was not readable, it looked really weird. Now it is at 600p. I assume it is running on my integrated graphics.

The pc works fine with a different gpu. Any help?

I think I maxed the power limit and did clock and memory clock.

but your boots just fine with it, just that display is all wonky?

did u try using DDU and installing the latest drivers?

if your monitor is plugged into the card, at least it's still working as a pass through

I don't think it is a driver issue as I have tried this gpu in 3 different systems, all with new drivers installs. Never used DDU. It is still working as a pass through, but I may as well just plug the hdmi into the mobo at that point.

im saying it's not completely dead

but if it's not working properly in multiple systems then it's as good as dead

I didn't realise I Could mess up a gpu that badly with afterburner. Thanks for the help

raising power limit puts extra strain on the VRMs

if it's not well designed then it might fail

this dont happen normally though

Afterburner

from what i know, afterburner lets you overclock as far as the card bios will allow.

if you overclock it too much it would freak out and crash but it wont damage the card.

i overclocked the memory of my old gtx 650 to the max setting in afterburner, the screen turned pink, purple, green, red and blue with lines and squares and it was flickering and crashed after 3 seconds but after i restarted the pc it was all fine - like nothing happened.

does your afterburner starts with the computer?

I can't cancel the overclock because the gpu is not recognised in task manager or afterburner, as it has been disabled by windows.

Try to uninstall its drivers with ddu and then connect it

If it doesnt work, try it in another system.
