First post, apologies if I'm missing anything important.

I just upgraded my primary display last week from an old Benq 1080p@60Hz panel to a Gigabyte 1440p@165Hz panel, and immediately ran into some issues. The while under load, the screen will occasionally drop frames and have glitchy horizontal lines flash across the panel, but in HWMonitor the usage never falls below 99%. It also (rarely) flashes black for 2-3 seconds while the game continues to run uninterrupted in the background. Here's the specs of my machine:

CPU: i5 8600K (No OC)
Mobo: Asus ROG Strix Z370-E Gaming
Bios Ver: 2401
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 FTW Hybrid Gaming
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z DDR4-3200 C14 (F4-3200C14D-32GTZSK)
Primary SSD: Samsung Evo 940 240GB
OS: Windows 10 Pro 2004 64bit

PSU: Corsair RM850x

I was able to capture an example of the horizontal line artifacting by running the FurMark benchmark on 1440p and recording it with my phone, but I didn't encounter the black screen flashing during this benchmark. I only encounter the lines when running FurMark at 1440p or 4K, the 1080p and 720p benchmarks run fine every time. Any insight is appreciated, this was never an issue before the new panel and I'm trying to figure out if this is an issue with the new monitor or if the new workload is stressing mt GPU/PSU in a way that I'm now seeing a failure that I never ran into before.

any overclock applied to your GPU? If so, back it out and test at 100% stock.

I haven't messed with the clock, but the FTW Gaming line from EVGA comes with a factory OC. I'll jump into Precision X1 and see if I can set the clock to the stock speeds per NVIDIA's website and post back.

So I downclocked the GPU by 200MHz (the biggest margin the software I'm using will let me) and it still shows the same symptoms. I noticed that it doesn't do it much on the first run of the benchmark but on the second and any subsequent runs its much more prevelant.

does it do it in other benchmarks like Unigine heaven or Firestrike etc?

Just ran the Unigine Heaven benchmark and had the same issue. The framerate counter doesn't skip at all, it holds a flat 49-50 FPS under all max settings, but these hitches and artifacts still appear. I'll disable freesync/gsync and see if it helps.

Just disabled G-Sync/Freesync and the glitches are gone. On Gigabyte's website it lists this screen as G-Sync compatible but the NVIDIA control panel notifies me that it isn't. I guess this is the issue, kind of disappointing since this is why I bought the darn thing. If you or anyone else has any ideas, please let me know and if the support ticket I opened with them turns up any cool info I'll let you all know.

Unless its on Nvidias list, there is always a chance it wont work. I also found that with my old 1070, even with a Nvidia verified I had issues with it giving random black screens in games.. with my 2080ti I dont anymore.

That's also good to know, I've been mulling over picking up a 3080 (or whatever they end up calling it) so I may hold out for now and just forego freesync. Thank you for all of your help!!
