Hey

My wife recently received a used computer from a friend and we are trying to upgrade it to Windows 10. I have tried a few times now, with install disc, and it keeps giving me this error code (8007001F-20006). So now I'm trying to update the Windows 7 in hopes that it will correct the problem. However, it also keeps failing at installing the Microsoft.NET Framework 4.8 (KB4503548) for Windows 7.

And of course, I can't get into the BIOS because my USB keyboard isn't being recognized during startup.

I've tried NetFxRepair Tool and it tells me that it is unable to help, but will send the info on to Microsoft...

I also tried .NET Framework Setup Cleanup Utility and then going to Framework site and just downloading the most current version. Actually I tried every version of 4.7 individually to see if any would work.

Specs,
AMD FX-6300
Masscool 5T568S1H3
MSI 760gm-p34 Micro ATX
Gskill Ripjaw 8GB
Crucial M500 240 GB SSD
XFX Radeon HD 7750
Cougar Spike MicroATX Mini Tower
Rosewill Stallion 500 W ATX

Most of these parts I will eventually upgrade, but I just built my own so money is limited.

Thanks for any suggestions.

First of all - check your hardware. Too many strange errors means that something may be wrong and that is why you can't upgrade your system.

Also - if you don't know what is going on, just try to install win10 on some spare, old drive (if you have any) and keep current win7 installation intact just in case something is wrong.

Thanks I will give those things a try, but I am a computer novice. From what I can tell all the hardware is running fine. Is there a way to check other then just using the computer? A program of some sort.

All the drives are current and and the hardware is all installed and seated properly.

Interesting thanks! I guess I will be spending some time digging deeper. By the end of this experience, I won't be as much of a novice when it comes to maintenance at least.

If you have to have windows 10 and don't have any data on the pc currently that you want to keep, then i would create a windows 10 usb using the microsoft provided tool. Only do this if you have another pc to do any other troubleshooting if the issue is hardware.

The problem I am facing now is my keyboard doesn't work during start up so I can't tell the computer to boot one way or another. Or even get into the BIOS. I'm wired in, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I should probably make a new thread for that though.
