So I am thinking of doing a design that is mainly black with some white stripes in it. I could just paint the stripes on but I want to make more of a feature of them than that.

So I have been wondering if I get the design laser cut into the case panels and then mill some acrylic so that there is still enough surface to glue it but have it flush with the panel. Here is a pic if that doesn't make sense.

Has it been done already? or is this even possible?

Ah, I get it now.

If the stripes are going to be long I would be concerned about how strong it is, but I guess its not like they really need to be strong as long as you are careful with it when you remove it from the case.

Its a really neat idea, just sounds like a lot of work and money for what you get out of it. Then again it is one of a kind, and that kinda makes it priceless. Personally I would go with clear acrylic and have LED's shining thru it.
