Am I able to split this cpu cable?

I need a 4 pin connector for my cpu, I have another cpu cable and it looks like I can split it. 

Or do I even need the 4 pin connector for the cpu?

Yes, that's an 8-pin CPU cable and it splits into 4+4 pins

if u already plugged in 8, you dont need the extra 4 if u dont have the connector for it

it's for supplementary power for extreme overclocking, which normal users wont ever need

Yah, as @Moonzy mentioned you don't really need the extra 4-pin
