So I am giving my old laptop to my brother but I am a bit ashamed with the amount of RAM that machine has. So I decided to go RAM hunting and man was it a hunt. There were stuff to hunt everywhere. So for less confusion I switched to local stores and found three convincing ones.

GeIL DDR4-2133MHz 8GB Laptop RAM

Link if you want more details-https://www.startech.com.bd/geil-ddr4-2133mhz-8gb

G.SKILL RIPJAWS 8GB DDR4L 2133BUS SO-DIMM LAPTOP RAM

Also I want one good as I don't want my brother to haunt me somedays after for a better one.

Thanks

Unless you have a quad-core CPU, don't waste money on more RAM. The bottleneck is likely not memory.

As for what memory to get - doesn't matter. That laptop doesn't support fast RAM.

Thanks man. Now I can say to my brother that I am giving him a dead laptop😂🤣

On the tin, they're exactly the same. The only real difference is going to come down to the die. The G.Skill are B-die, I think, which is good. Not sure about the Geil (we don't have those in the U.S.). However, that really only matters if you're trying to OC the RAM, which is not really a factor here. This mostly seems like 6 or half a dozen here.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D · Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S Chromax.black · Motherboard: Gigabyte Auros X670 Elite AX · RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30 · Graphics Card: Zotac NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super Twin Edge OC 12GB · Boot Drive: 1TB XPG Gammix S70 Blade NVMe SSD · Game Drive: 2TB WD SN850X NVMe SSD · PSU: Seasonic Focus GX V3 1000W 80+ Gold · Case: Fractal Design North Mesh · Monitor: MSI Optix MAG342CQR 34” UWQHD 3440x1440 144Hz · Keyboard: EPOMAKER x Aula F99 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard · Mouse: Logitech G309 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse

Well a laptop that has no worth even if upgraded, is a pretty dead laptop. Now I remember why I left it in my cabinet for a year or so.

It's not "dead", though.

Can you give me a full spec rundown and what issue you're trying to solve? Chances are, a fresh OS install might work wonders. Also an SSD.

Nah man. I opened up the laptop to see its internals and the fan is not even directly connected to the CPU heatsink. And the chipset is a U-series. Are U-series OC-able??

99% of all laptops are not overclockable as the power delivery would fail.

It has 6th gen core-i5 with 4 gigs of RAM. says it has Intel HD 520. I am gonna use a 120GB SSD. And as far as OS install goes I have given it umm.. one of those option that windows has built in to remove softwares and install windows again.

Get a 4GB stick and call it a day. Least it will be dual-channel
