Budget (including currency): $10k would be probably the ideal but boss never likes spending on things that aren't his idea.

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: File Storage, full access and usage for various file types.

Other details:

Currently looking at the state our storage is in and the obsession that the boss has for keeping Data onsite. previously (before me) they would buy the littlest NAS (4bay) to tide over the local backup (please note I not employed as IT). I suggested a 12 bay in the first few years and they went that path the next  time they needed to expand the store, slowly filling this up over the past few years (ill have been here 9 years in September).

Basically I would be looking at pulling out our CAD and Document drives off the server base storage and leave it to hold exchange (yes its local dont ask), AD as well as our templates and standard files. What I would looking for is a direction that i should follow for a file store for daily use unit/system that isn't cloud based (again don't ask boss wants it local). With suitable access for, currently 35-40 users (or alternatively 18 if we end up only pulling the CAD stuff out and going down the 10gbit path).
