Budget (including currency): ~500 CHF == 500 USD

Country: Switzerland

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Workstation for Coding / Linux Server

Other details:

My neighbour gave me an old Apple G5, from which I am going to only use the Case and maybe some cooling fans if possible.

For Motherboard, Ram, CPU and maybe even GPU I wanted to buy something for cheap from Aliexpress like a used Server Motherboard CPU RAM combo. Do you guys know of any good deals, or do you have any advice when buying Server components from Aliexpress?

The system should have at least 8-16 GB Ram and 6 cores or more.

Thank you guys in advance for any help.

Get a smaller motherboard, no full ATX. Micro ATX or Mini ITX is recommended. Smaller motherboard is easier to work with plus it is compatible with the G5 pci slots.

Used part from Aliexpress is a good idea, but you probably better having a modern low end Ryzen instead like Athlon GE or Ryzen 3.
