If i were you, id replace the 3820 with a 3930k, or if you can go any higher, just get a Z77 board and get a 3770k, other then that. it looks great! :)

My build: i5 3570k @ Stock // Arctic Freezer i30 CPU Cooler // 7970 3GB @ 1000MHz Core 1500Mhz Memory // 8GB RAM @ 1333MHz // WD Caviar Black 1TB // WD Caviar Blue 1TB // Corsair 300R

I was debating upgrading the 3820 to a 3930k but for double the price i couldnt find any stand out reasons to switch, why do you recommend the upgrade

The 3930K is very comparable to the 3960X. It's great for video editing, but is overkill for most games.

As for the GPU, it really depends on what you play.

The 3820 is not better in performance to the 3770k. I had the same dilemma in my build. If you buy the 3820 it's mostly to get the features of the X79 chipset. Otherwise Z77 is just fine, and the 3770k is great for video editing as well. If you go for Z77 you save money on the motherboard and CPU, but the performance is just as good as the 3820. I'll invest in a 3930k instead of the 3820 because I'd be set for a long time forward.

Z77 with a 3770k is great for consumer based gaming and video editing. So if you want a great PC with gaming and video editing capabilites go with a Z77 MB (Asus Sabertooth, ROG or P8Z77) with a 3770k. That's my opinion.

Current build: Antec P180, Asus P8Z68 Pro, Intel i5-2500k, Asus GTX 570 2GB, Patriot 16GB 1600MHz, Corsair HX 650W.
