Upgrading CPU Troubleshooting

I have upgraded an old system from an i3 4130 to an i5 4690, however with the i5 I cannot get the system to post.

 

The system is using an Asus B85M-G with a single 8gb stick of RAM.

 

I can put the i3 back into the system and it will boot just fine, I have already updated the BIOS however it still refuses to post

 

Any help would be appreciated

Starting to think so, however want to be absolutely sure before it gets shipped back. Bought it second hand and the guy is adamant it worked before hand

try it in a different system if possible and try 

clear the cmos and then try.

Tried clearing cmos, and don't have another 1150 system to try it in

a friends system or something? try maybe inspecting the cpu for a broken memory channel or just anything that is damaged.

CPU and socket both seem OK to me, as I say I don't have or know of anyone with a 1150 system

i mean that is kind of the only way to know if the cpu is fine or not.. if you do not and cant then i  guess return it?
