SSD Not Recognised

Go to solution Solved by 1HyperCube1,

I left the HDD and found that when the SSD was plugged into the brown sata ports with the HDD (Intel Z87 Serial ATA connectors) it didn't work (The HDD did work fine) but when I plugged the SSD into the Beige sata ports it worked. Interesting. (According to the motherboard manual the Beige plugs are the same but are ASMedia Serial ATA connectors.)

Thanks for everyone's help has made this an amazing first build ;)

Try a diffrent sata port , looks like you have the ssd in the sata port running off of the marvel chipset

Try hitting it with a hammer that usually works. But seriously maybe swapping the sata cable to see if thats causing the problem.

Try a different SATA port/cable/power connector and make sure that the connections are secure.

Is it pkugged in the bottom one? If so thats likly a additional controller which on asus boards is marvell. You may not have it enabled, either was I wpuld move it over to the intel controller. Also why is the ssd not your boot drive?

HDD wasn't meant to be the Boot Drive but I messed it up. Is there anyway to swap them?

Yes easiest was would be to reinstall windows this time leaving the HDD unplugged when doing so.
