Mac help

Hey Guys, 

 

New here. Hope you are all

safe and well? 
 

I know this isn’t everyone’s cup

of tea but I have a 2009 MacPro. I switched from

2015 MacBook Pro to this for the upgradability. 
 

so I upgraded the ram it’s maxed out at 48GB 3 Dimms

 

Single 4 core XEON

 

128GB SSD user directory of 1TB Sata. 
 

512MB gfx 

 

1) the rig is so freaking laggy and I can seem to find the bottle neck 

 

2) I wanna upgrade and been out of the hardware game for a while. Which gfx card would you reccomend would spending a fortune?

Why did you make such a massive downgrade I'd you had a 2015 MBP?

I had a friend with a xenon Mac Pro that made a Red devil 580 work.  Dunno what year his machine was.  2015 MacBook should be faster.  Seems like a strange move to me.
