Just sold mine (PG278Q) and looking at the PG35VQ or 34-35+ inch ultrawides in general.

The cost is horrendous (but doable) but I have a few red flags.

Is the high grade HDR even worth it in 2020? I do play a lot of older titles that don't even remotely support low grade HDR. Plus I will NOT be watching movies on this thing at all.

Also 200hz seems totally overkill.

Not for gaming. My current monitor has HDR 10 and it's unnoticeable in basically everything.

I mean, you certainly will not be getting 3440x1440 pixels at 200 frames per second with a 1080 ti.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Right now of course but I'm planning to upgrade my PC down the line. My old monitor lasted ~5 years and could have lasted a while longer.

By HDR 10 you mean the absolute latest tech?

No it's a pretty early adopter for HDR gaming monitors, the Aorus AD27QD. Colors are phenomenal, but no more phenomenal than a quality IPS panel.

Seems like I'm stuck between the Alienware AW3420DW and the LG 34GN850-B.

Not sure if the rtings.com is that reputable.

I was going to get this monitor and waited so long but because it’s a VA panel, it struggles with response time at the 200Hz.

I believe there’s also a colour limitation at the full res and 200Hz due to DP 1.4.

Also, the blooming was really bad.

So all in all, as far as UltraWides go, it’s one of the “best” features and specs wise, but just not quite there yet.

Maybe 2nd Gen is they switch to IPS with MiniLED like the 27” & 32” upcoming monitors.

Along with DP 2.0, that would surely alleviate any issues.

right now, the two you listed, the AlienWare would be my choice!
