Disk partition

Hey,

 

So today I installed win8 64bit pro on my laptop.

 

Although I partitioned off 50 gig off of my hdd for the OS, I remember I could fix this before but I had forgotten.

My drive is 500Gb of space, fyi

Oh oops, I had just realized i hadn't specified what the problem was

 

But when I partitioned the drive, (50gb) It says thats all I have for space when I look at it in Computer.

So it says for my C:/ drive that its only 50gb, But my entire drive is 500gb.

The problem is most likely that the other partition hasn't been formated.

 

Hit the windows key + R and type "diskmgmt.msc"

 

In the bottom half of that window is there a box with a black bar that says unallocated?

Hold Windows Key and press R (Windows + R) now in the run box type- diskmgmt.msc

You should see the 50GB Partition and an 'unallocated space' partition. Just right click it and go create simple volume. Follow the prompts and now it should now show it under My Computer.

I'm not realy familiair with windows 8, but I think this is how to fix it:

 

In the search menu (right side of screen charms menu?) search for diskmgmt.msc and open it. You should end op with something like this:

 

 

On your disk 0 there is probably System Reserver, a drive C: of 50 GB and about 450 GB of unassigned space. Rightclick on the unassign space and click 'create new partition' or 'create new volume'. You'll have to give it a name, drive letter and filesystem. I recommened giving it drive letter D: and formatting it as default NTFS.

I might've got some names wrong because I'm using a Dutch version of Win 7, but I hope this helped
