Hi guys, need some help/reassurance.

A week or two ago I got an ASUS z270f motherboard to allow me to overclock my i5-6600k which I got second-hand a few years ago. After I booted it up (before overclocking) I noticed the temps were slightly higher than before but nothing to be too worried about. I managed to overclock to 4.8GHz with temperatures which I thought were fine, however, today I noticed my system was reaching just over 40 degrees at idle so I decided to reseat my cooler - maybe I'd not put enough thermal paste on? After this I tried to boot my PC and got a BSOD every time (CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA). I changed my overclock settings to auto and was able to boot but I'm seeing idle temps in the range of 35-40 degrees (I have tried increasing and decreasing the mounting pressure to no avail).

My CPU cooler is a noctua NH-U14s.

Anyone got any ideas of what's going on?

Thanks

Well idle temps do not matter at all. monitor load temps and report them back here

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

Reseated the cooler with another fresh thermal paste application and temps are a bit lower - about 35 at idle and 50-55 in prime 95. Turns out I'm just bad at applying thermal paste? 🤦‍♂️

Overclocked to 4.7GHz I'm getting 75-85 in prime95 is this normal too?
