1600x1200 blurry or 1280x1024 crisp?

Kuzma

Don't judge me but I'm using a 4 year old TV on VGA with my 290 xD, I love the extra screen real estate of 1600x1200 but it's slightly blurry compared to 1280x1024

I thought a 290 doesn't support VGA

crsip.

But please dear lord buy a 1080p monitor

That's what I thought :P and probably gonna wait till later in the year as 1440p monitors plummet due to 4K, like that $450 1440P monitor :P else I'll just get an IPS 1080P one or if the prices are low enough a few 1080P ones.

Display port to VGA adaptor.

Not everyone has the funds to get both a great card and a good monitor at the same time. Eg. I rather bought myself a 770 and have 2 old 1280x1024 screens that get a 1440p which i plan on and then run it off a gts250 :)

So next time, just try to look at the situation from different perspectives :)

I know but even 200$ is an investment. And if he can live with lower res until he gets a better monitor, the card was a better investment at the time than a hires monitor.

Well he will probably run it at a higher resolution later...

Mediocre card + 1080p now and for some time

isnt as good as

a great card now + a better monitor in the future

I understand what you are saying, if you bought a 290 and had an old monitor to run off for say like a month till you get a higher res thats cool, but like if you kind of never get the higher res monitor its a waste of money....

In this case i agree with you, but i believe OP is usimg a temporary solution now, as am i :)

(god i hate the overinflated monitor prices, cant wait for 4K to get reasonable so i can get myself a 1600p for cheap ;) )
